// Interaural Asymmetry, Not Hearing Thresholds, Predicts Diotic Frequency Modulation Sensitivity in Children With Minimal-to-Mild Hearing Loss
// This study investigated how minimal-to-mild sensorineural hearing loss affects temporal auditory processing in children aged 4 to 12. Using psychoacoustic tasks measuring amplitude and frequency modulation sensitivity, researchers compared children with normal hearing, unilateral, and bilateral hearing loss. Results showed no deficits in modulation sensitivity for minimal-to-mild hearing loss overall, but interaural asymmetry was linked to reduced frequency modulation sensitivity. The findings highlight that even slight asymmetric hearing loss can subtly impair auditory perception, emphasizing the importance of early detection and intervention.
