The test distinguishes stria vascularis dysfunction, characterized by reduced endocochlear potential, from sensory hair cell or neural defects. This method effectively identifies mice with strial deficits by measuring inter-trial coherence of auditory responses. The approach could potentially guide human treatments targeting strial function by predicting underlying dysfunction.
