// An Evaluation of Preset Collection Size in Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids

本研究探討老年人是否偏好較大預設組合的非處方（OTC）助聽器｜41名受試者比較4種預設組合及個別化目標，並透過雙淘汰賽評估偏好，同時測試安靜與噪音環境中的語音理解｜結果顯示，受試者在安靜環境明顯偏好32種預設最多的組合，且語音理解無損，經驗用戶則較傾向增益調整而非純預設設定｜研究建議提供更多預設選項或可調預設的OTC助聽器，更能滿足用戶偏好，尤其在安靜環境中。

// This study examined whether older adults prefer larger preset collections of OTC hearing aids, which include individualized deviations from prescriptive targets, compared to smaller preset sets or standard prescriptions. Using a within-subject design, 41 older adults tested four preset collections and individualized targets, with preferences assessed via a double-elimination tournament and speech perception measured in quiet and noise. Participants significantly preferred the largest preset collection (32 presets) in quiet, without detriment to speech understanding, while experienced users favored more gain and less often chose presets over prescriptions. The findings suggest that OTC hearing aids with more preset options or adjustable presets better match user preferences, especially in quiet listening environments.
