// This study created a database tracking Medicaid hearing aid coverage policies for adults over 20 from 2003 to 2023 and estimated the share of beneficiaries with coverage. Using policy surveillance and American Community Survey data, researchers found that state coverage fluctuated, with 32 states covering hearing aids in 2003, dropping to 27 in 2013, and rising again to 31 in 2023. The percentage of adults with Medicaid hearing aid coverage increased from 65.4% in 2008 to 70.3% in 2023. The study highlights that gaps in coverage may hinder health equity and public health goals related to hearing loss.
