// Temporal evolution of impedance after motorized versus manual cochlear implantation
// This study compared motorized insertion tools (MITs) with manual insertion for cochlear implant electrode placement in patients with residual hearing. Using matched cohorts, impedance values were measured over six months postoperatively to assess tissue response and hearing outcomes. MIT-assisted insertion resulted in consistently lower impedance in the basal cochlea, indicating reduced intracochlear trauma, though overall hearing preservation was similar between methods. These results suggest MITs may minimize mechanical stress during insertion, with impedance metrics serving as useful biomarkers.
