// Emotional responses to environmental sounds: associations with self‑reported well‑being in adults reporting minimal hearing difficulties, some hearing difficulties, and hearing aid use
// This study examined how emotional reactions to environmental sounds relate to well-being in people with and without hearing difficulties. Participants rated sounds on emotional scales and completed well-being questionnaires, revealing that those with hearing challenges, especially hearing aid users, reported more emotional communication issues and lower listening enjoyment. Greater sensitivity to emotional sounds was linked to more communication difficulties, while perceiving negative sounds more positively correlated with better well-being. The findings suggest that addressing emotional responses to sound could improve well-being for individuals with hearing difficulties.
