// This study examined how self-generated sounds at different intensities affect perception and early auditory brain responses. Participants discriminated sound intensities that were either self- or externally generated and either near-threshold or supra-threshold. Results showed that self-generated near-threshold sounds were perceived as louder and evoked stronger early auditory responses, while traditional attenuation occurred only in later processing stages for louder sounds. These findings suggest that the brain dynamically adjusts sensory processing of self-generated sounds based on intensity, enhancing weak inputs and attenuating strong ones.
