// Impact of Circulating Estrogen and Mild Systemic Dehydration on Ultrasonic Vocalizations in Female Rats

// This study examined how reduced estrogen, estradiol replacement, and mild dehydration affect ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs) in female rats. Rats were grouped by hormonal and hydration status, with USVs measured before and after treatments. Results showed that estrogen loss reduced USV duration and power, while dehydration narrowed frequency range and affected USV characteristics depending on hormonal state. The findings suggest that estrogen and hydration subtly and interactively influence vocal patterns, providing a preclinical model for hormone-hydration effects on laryngeal function.
