// Developmental Care Practices for Infants with Grade 3 Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia While in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
// This study evaluated neurodevelopmental care practices in infants with grade 3 bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in 22 NICUs, focusing on therapy frequency and supportive equipment relative to respiratory support level. Data from 141 infants showed that higher respiratory support was linked to more physical and speech therapy sessions and greater availability of developmental equipment, especially in those with tracheostomies. Despite most nurses having time to support development, fewer than half of the infants routinely experienced reading or singing. These findings highlight variability in developmental care based on respiratory support and can inform standardization efforts to improve outcomes for infants with severe BPD.
