// Click and chirp evoked auditory brainstem responses in infants whose mothers had COVID-19 during pregnancy

// This study examined auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) in infants whose mothers had COVID-19 during pregnancy compared to those whose mothers did not. Using click and CE-Chirp® stimuli, ABR recordings showed prolonged latencies for peaks III and V and reduced peak V amplitudes in infants exposed to maternal COVID-19, while cochlear function (DPOAEs) was similar between groups. The findings suggest atypical ABR patterns in these infants despite normal hearing thresholds. Audiologists should emphasize detailed ABR evaluation at higher intensities for infants with prenatal COVID-19 exposure.
