// This study developed the Guided Oral-intake and Swallowing Test (GOST) to provide a practical alternative to videofluoroscopy and videoendoscopy for assessing dysphagia severity. The key measure from GOST, GDOSS, was validated against the Dysphagia Outcome and Severity Scale (DOSS) using data from 67 patients. Results showed GDOSS strongly correlates with DOSS, agrees well on severity categorization, and independently predicts DOSS levels. GDOSS is a valid, useful tool for estimating dysphagia severity when standard instrumental assessments are not feasible.
