// This study compared hearing health experiences between rural and urban Minnesotans using surveys, otoscopy, and audiometric screening. Rural participants showed higher rates of hearing loss but both groups had similarly low hearing test rates and poor awareness of hearing health and Medicaid coverage. Despite adequate health literacy, both rural and urban residents lacked discussion of hearing issues with primary care providers. The study concludes that public health efforts are needed to improve hearing health awareness and education for both populations.
