// This study evaluated long-term outcomes of cochlear implantation (CI) in DFNA9 patients with the p.Pro51Ser COCH variant compared to matched controls. Using retrospective cohort analysis and speech perception, hearing thresholds, and quality of life assessments over five years, results showed that CI significantly improved speech perception and quality of life equally in both groups. Residual hearing before implantation was a key predictor of better postoperative speech perception, especially in DFNA9 patients, highlighting the benefit of earlier implantation. Overall, CI outcomes in DFNA9 patients were durable and comparable to controls, supporting earlier intervention considerations.
