// This study investigates whether speech sound disorders linked to central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) arise from central auditory processing deficits rather than articulation issues. Twenty-five children with articulation problems and 25 without were tested using articulation and auditory processing assessments. Results showed significant deficits in left ear performance during dichotic listening tasks in the articulation problem group, suggesting a delay in right-hemisphere auditory maturation. The study concludes that articulation disorders may reflect central auditory processing deficits and recommends screening for CAPD in children with articulation difficulties.
