// Selective Auditory Attention Engages Distinct Neural Strategies in Simulated Electric and Acoustic Stimulation Within and Across Ears
// This study compared neural mechanisms supporting attention-driven speech comprehension in simulated electric-acoustic stimulation (EAS) and bimodal stimulation (BS) conditions using EEG in normal-hearing listeners. Both conditions showed similar accuracy in cortical tracking of attended speech, but EAS involved stronger phase synchronization across brain regions, while BS showed greater cross-frequency integration. These distinct neural coordination patterns were linked to task-related brain responses, indicating different neural strategies for speech processing. Findings clarify how EAS and BS use different neural mechanisms despite similar speech encoding, informing targeted auditory interventions.
