// Frequency-specific and level-dependent alteration in cochlear nucleus following prolonged moderate noise exposure
// This study examined how 1-hour exposure to moderate noise (65 dB SPL) affects the cochlear nucleus (CN) in mice. Extracellular recordings showed frequency-specific changes: suppression at the exposure and higher frequencies, and increased activity at lower neighboring frequencies. These changes partially recovered within 6 hours, especially when mice were in an enriched acoustic environment. The results indicate rapid CN reorganization after moderate noise exposure influenced by both peripheral input and CN circuitry, with recovery aided by acoustic enrichment.
