// This study used a Bayesian meta-analysis to examine motor skill deficits in individuals with developmental dyslexia compared to neurotypical peers across 100 studies. Results showed a medium-sized impairment in fine motor skills in dyslexia, even when controlling for language difficulties, with effects present from childhood through adulthood. Motor deficits were slightly greater in Chinese than English speakers, reflecting the role of handwriting in character learning. These findings support dyslexia as a multifactorial disorder and suggest fine motor tasks could aid early identification and intervention.
