// This study examined speech recognition and quality of life (QOL) improvements after cochlear implantation in 101 adults. Most patients showed meaningful improvement in either speech recognition, QOL, or both, with lower baseline scores predicting larger gains. Higher daily device use was linked to better speech recognition but not QOL improvements. Borderline candidates had smaller speech gains but similar QOL benefits compared to traditional candidates, supporting the use of patient-reported outcomes in evaluations.
