// Current status and future prospects of research on psilocybin's regulation of neurotransmitters and their receptors related to the pathogenesis of tinnitus
// This review explores the potential of psilocybin, a natural psychedelic, as a novel treatment for subjective tinnitus by targeting neural plasticity mechanisms. Psilocybin activates 5-HT2A receptors, increasing glutamate release and BDNF expression, which enhances synaptic connectivity in key brain areas. The study highlights how these effects may synergistically regulate neurotransmitter imbalances involved in tinnitus. Overall, psilocybin could offer a promising new approach by restoring neural plasticity and neurotransmitter balance in tinnitus patients.
