// This study investigated how loss of ZPLD1 affects behavior and cupula structure in homozygous Zpld1 knockout mice. Using open-field testing combined with DeepLabCut tracking, researchers found that knockout mice were hyperactive, had increased head-turning, and 24% showed circling behavior, unaffected by early visual deprivation. Immunostaining revealed that loss of ZPLD1 disrupts cupula formation in the inner ear. The findings indicate ZPLD1 is essential for proper cupula development and normal vestibular function.
