// This study examined speech perception and production errors in children with cochlear implants (CIs), normal hearing (NH) children, and NH children listening to vocoder simulations (NHV). Using the California Consonant Test, moderate perception-production correlations were found in all groups, with NHV showing poorer perception and more variable error patterns in CI children. Error patterns varied by consonant features, with CI children exhibiting atypical substitutions not seen in NH peers. The findings suggest tailored interventions for CI users and indicate vocoder simulations may not fully represent CI auditory experience.
