// This study evaluated the effectiveness of balloon Eustachian tuboplasty (BET) plus tympanostomy tube insertion (TTI) with or without Eustachian tube auto-inflation (ETA) in treating radiation-induced otitis media with effusion (RI-OME) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. Sixty-one patients were randomly assigned to receive BET+TTI alone or combined with ETA and followed for 12 months, assessing Eustachian tube function and hearing. Both groups improved significantly, but those receiving ETA showed greater and longer-lasting benefits. The addition of ETA enhances the therapeutic effect of BET+TTI for RI-OME.
