// Cortical Auditory Neural Responses to Speech and Communicative Functioning in Normocephalic Children With Prenatal Exposure to the Zika Virus

// This study examined auditory neural function and communication in normocephalic children prenatally exposed to the Zika virus. Using cortical auditory evoked potentials and behavioral assessments, exposed children showed delayed speech sound differentiation and lower adaptive communication abilities than non-exposed peers. Greater cortical speech differentiation correlated with better communication outcomes. Findings suggest subtle auditory processing deficits linked to communication challenges in exposed children, underscoring the need for ongoing neurodevelopmental monitoring.
