// This study reviewed palliative care consultations among NICU infants undergoing tracheostomy, finding that only 13.5% received consults. Consultations were more common for neurologic cases and less frequent in cardiac or pulmonary conditions, despite similar complexity in outcomes. No significant differences were found in mortality or short-term outcomes between consult and no-consult groups, but long-term decannulation rates were lower in the consulted group.
