// Dynamic neural oscillations underpin audiovisual gain from visual lip cues in speech noise
// This study investigated how visual lip movements aid speech perception in noisy Mandarin sentences using behavioral and EEG data. It found that speech noise reduces recognition accuracy and weakens neural activity and connectivity in auditory brain regions. Congruent lip movements improved recognition and enhanced low-frequency brain activity in these regions early after speech onset. Under very noisy conditions, visual lip cues also increased connectivity with motor areas, suggesting compensatory sensorimotor involvement in difficult listening.
