// This study surveyed 83 speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in the U.S. to examine their assessment and diagnostic practices for language impairments during posttraumatic amnesia (PTA) after traumatic brain injury. Results showed wide variability in both knowledge and terminology used, including terms related to cognition, language, confusion, and aphasia. The findings highlight inconsistencies in clinical practice and emphasize the need for specialized training and standardized guidelines. Establishing common diagnostic language for PTA-related language impairments is recommended to improve clinical decision making.
