// This study estimated a 2.1% prevalence of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) among Mexican university students, rising to 5.4% among active gamers. It used surveys and statistical analyses to identify risk factors like high gaming hours, toxic communities, violent or coping motivations, and impulsivity traits. Protective factors included gaming for fun, social support, and emotional intelligence. The key predictors of IGD were low perseverance and reduced peer social support, suggesting targets for culturally tailored interventions.
