// This study examined auditory emotion recognition and hearing-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children with cochlear implants (CIs) versus normal-hearing peers. Using nonverbal vocalizations, the CI group showed poorer emotion recognition and lower HRQoL than controls. Results also found that better perceived sound quality in CI users was linked to improved recognition of happiness. Overall, pediatric CI users face challenges in emotion recognition and quality of life compared to peers with normal hearing.
