// This study developed the BabyBEL, a new sentence corpus based on the Basic English Lexicon designed for children aged 5 and older. Sentences were made from kindergarten and first-grade vocabulary, recorded by a female talker, and tested in noise with adults and children to assess speech recognition. Results showed consistent speech recognition thresholds across most lists for both adults and children, indicating the corpus is suitable for young children. The BabyBEL recordings are freely available for research use.
