// This study compared quality of life outcomes in children undergoing tympanostomy tube placement (TTP) for recurrent acute otitis media (rAOM), mixed indications, or other indications using the OM-6 questionnaire. A retrospective cohort of 7800 children was analyzed with longitudinal OM-6 scores assessed up to 24 months postoperatively. Children with rAOM or mixed indications, who had worse baseline QOL, experienced greater and sustained improvement in overall OM-6 scores than those with other indications. The findings show TTP leads to long-term quality of life benefits across all groups, with rAOM patients achieving comparable final outcomes despite poorer initial status.
