// Prevalence of high risk for obstructive sleep apnea and its impact on quality of life in children with overweight and obesity
// This study aimed to determine how common high risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is among overweight and obese children and its effect on quality of life. Researchers assessed 68 children aged 2-12 using a sleep apnea screening tool and quality-of-life questionnaire, finding that 41.2% had a high OSA risk. Tonsillar hypertrophy was the strongest predictor of high OSA risk, which was linked to significant quality-of-life impairment. The study concludes that systematic OSA screening and quality-of-life evaluations should be integrated into pediatric obesity care.
