// This study reviews three years of pediatric cochlear implant cases where hearing aid trials were skipped, identifying situations where immediate implantation is justified: late-onset or progressive hearing loss, loss to follow-up after newborn screening, and auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder. Analysis of 22 cases showed these categories warrant bypassing hearing aids to reduce delays in auditory access. Post-surgery device use varied widely, indicating some families may face challenges with cochlear implant use despite faster candidacy. The findings suggest cochlear implants can be considered without prior hearing aid trials in select cases, helping close intervention timing gaps.
