// This study developed a new speech intelligibility test condition using fluctuating, spatially separated maskers to better reflect real-life listening challenges. It compared this to a standard condition in 100 participants with normal and impaired hearing, tested both unaided and with personalized amplification. The new condition revealed reduced intelligibility in hearing-impaired listeners who performed well under the standard test, highlighting variability in amplification benefit.
