本研究測試壓電鑽能否在保護膜迷路結構下穿孔半規管｜在人體顳骨上操作並用顯微鏡檢查，結果顯示膜迷路皆完整無損｜結果表明壓電手術有望安全用於具有內耳功能患者的半規管手術。

// This study tested whether a piezoelectric drill can fenestrate semicircular canals while preserving the membranous labyrinth. Researchers used the drill on human temporal bones and examined the fenestration sites under a microscope. They found the membranous labyrinth remained intact in all cases. The results suggest piezoelectric surgery could safely enable semicircular canal procedures in patients with existing inner ear function.
