// Estimation of minor-to-moderate conductive hearing loss with distortion-product otoacoustic emissions in humans
// This study used pulsed distortion-product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) level maps to estimate air-bone gaps (ABG) in patients with conductive hearing loss (CHL) or mixed hearing loss. By analyzing two DPOAE metrics—the shift of stimulus path and slope of DPOAE growth functions—researchers differentiated CHL from sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) and found strong correlations with measured ABG. The combined metrics provided accurate ABG estimates, and estimated DPOAE thresholds aligned closely with behavioral hearing thresholds. These findings suggest DPOAE level maps can objectively separate conductive and cochlear hearing loss components and support their use for diagnosing and monitoring pathologies like otosclerosis.
