// Measuring language proficiency in bilingual children using EEG-based neural tracking of continuous speech
// This study investigated the relationship between EEG-based neural envelope tracking and language proficiency in monolingual and bilingual children aged 6 to 8. Children listened to stories in languages they comprehended and did not comprehend, and neural tracking was measured and compared with behavioral language tests. Results showed that neural envelope tracking was higher for comprehensible languages but did not correlate with individual language proficiency scores. The findings suggest neural envelope tracking can differentiate language comprehension but requires further validation to assess proficiency accurately.
