// This study investigated whether listening difficulties (LiD) in adults stem from limited cross-modal attention under visual load. Using a dual-task requiring visual focus and auditory monitoring, adults with LiD performed worse than controls, especially in tasks combining visual and auditory elements. The dual-task showed high accuracy in distinguishing LiD, implicating cognitive attentional limits in these difficulties. These findings suggest the dual-task paradigm is useful for diagnosing LiD and highlight the role of cognitive factors in LiD.
