Researchers compared 880 pediatric FBA patients with documented language barriers to 880 matched controls without such barriers. They found that children with language barriers had significantly higher risks of pneumonia, respiratory complications, prolonged hospital stays, and greater use of critical care resources. The study highlights that limited English proficiency worsens FBA outcomes, suggesting that professional interpreters and culturally tailored education could improve care for these patients.
