// Distance judgement in individuals with vision and hearing loss
// This study examined how people with vision loss (VL) and dual sensory loss (DSL) judge distance using visual, auditory, and combined cues. Participants estimated distances verbally and by walking to targets using flashing lights and pulsing tones at various distances. Results showed visual distance judgment remained accurate in VL and DSL groups, while auditory judgments had larger errors, especially in DSL, and combining cues did not improve performance beyond vision alone. The study concludes vision remains more reliable for distance judgment in sensory loss, and verbal reports align well with walking responses only for visual tasks.
