// Axial and Coronal Cochlear Aperture Measurements and their relationship with Internal Auditory Canal and Cochlear Nerve
// This study analyzed cochlear aperture measurements and cochlear nerve status in 1241 ears with inner ear malformations and normal controls. Axial and coronal cochlear aperture measurements strongly correlated and differed significantly across groups, with smaller apertures linked to cochlear nerve hypoplasia or aplasia. The findings show a clear relationship between reduced cochlear aperture size and cochlear nerve deficiency. Specifically, axial measurements below 1.26 mm and coronal measurements below 1.30 mm indicate a high likelihood of cochlear nerve aplasia.
