// This study evaluated dysphagia diagnosis frequency and assessment methods in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Among 1.3 million OSA patients, 15% had dysphagia, but only about 30% received formal swallowing evaluations, with instrumental tests greatly improving diagnostic accuracy. Despite high risk for serious complications like aspiration pneumonia, dysphagia is underdiagnosed and undertreated in this group. The authors recommend standardized, multidisciplinary screening to better detect and manage dysphagia in OSA patients.
