// Speech Intelligibility and Spectral Resolution Results in Cochlear Implant Users With and Without Inner Ear Malformations and the Effect of Angular Insertion Depth
// This study compared speech perception in noise and spectral resolution between pediatric cochlear implant users with normal cochleae and those with inner ear malformations (IEMs). Using speech-in-noise tests and spectral ripple tests, the study found that IEM users performed worse, requiring higher signal-to-noise ratios and showing reduced spectral resolution. Deeper electrode insertion depth (AID) correlated with better speech perception and spectral resolution, but its independent effect on spectral resolution was limited after accounting for other factors. The findings highlight the influence of cochlear anatomy and electrode placement on auditory outcomes in pediatric CI users.
