// This study tested intratympanic (IT) betahistine in rats to determine its inner ear diffusion and safety. Using different IT doses, betahistine was confirmed to diffuse into the inner ear dose-dependently without causing hearing or vestibular damage. Audiometric, behavioral, and histological assessments showed no adverse effects after repeated IT injections. The findings suggest IT administration can safely deliver higher inner ear betahistine concentrations, offering a potential new treatment for Menière disease.
