// Voice as relational orientation cue: neural dynamics underlying the decoding of listener- and content-oriented vocal communication

// This study investigated how the brain distinguishes between listener-oriented and content-oriented vocal cues in spoken communication using EEG and a cross-splicing paradigm. Key findings showed distinct neural patterns, including late positivities and alpha synchronization, that differed by relational orientation and congruency, especially for listener-oriented cues. Multivariate analyses confirmed stable neural representations of these distinctions beyond basic acoustic features. The results suggest listener-oriented vocal cue processing involves enhanced pragmatic inference and conflict resolution across both active and passive listening.
