// This study reviewed outcomes of middle fossa craniotomy (MFC) in 16 pediatric patients for skull base lesions, mainly vestibular schwannomas. The method involved retrospective analysis of facial nerve function and hearing before and after surgery. Results showed high rates of tumor resection, preservation of facial nerve function, and partial hearing preservation. The authors conclude that MFC is a safe, effective hearing-preserving option in children when performed early with modern monitoring and multidisciplinary care.
