// This study evaluated the effectiveness of superficial cervical plexus and great auricular nerve blocks in adults undergoing middle ear surgery. A review of seven randomized controlled trials showed these nerve blocks significantly reduced postoperative pain and nausea, as well as intraoperative opioid use. However, they did not significantly change rescue analgesic needs or adverse event rates. Overall, these nerve blocks appear to improve perioperative pain management and recovery in middle ear surgery.
