// Hearing Loss Perceptions in Patients With Subjective Asymmetry: Analysis and Implications
// This study evaluated how accurately patients self-report asymmetric hearing loss (AHL) compared to audiometric testing. In 70% of cases, patients incorrectly identified AHL, often overestimating hearing loss in the worse ear, especially if their overall hearing was better and interaural differences were small. Misclassification was not linked to age, sex, or race. The findings highlight the necessity of objective audiometric testing to reliably assess hearing asymmetry.
