// This study examined code-switching between Spanish-English toddlers and their mothers and fathers, assessing its relation to toddlers' vocabulary and word learning. Using daylong audio samples and behavioral tasks, researchers found that parents' code-switching patterns differently influenced children's code-switching and language outcomes. Toddlers' own code-switching predicted English word learning, but no predictors were found for Spanish word learning. The findings suggest code-switching supports bilingual development, with maternal and paternal roles uniquely impacting language learning within family dynamics.
