// Not Passing Newborn Hearing Screening and Neurodevelopment at 2 Years in Infants Born Extremely Preterm
// This study examined extremely preterm infants to assess if failing newborn hearing screening relates to language, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes at 2 years corrected age. Using mixed-effects models on data from 4,891 infants, those who did not pass hearing screening showed modestly lower language and cognitive scores but no direct link to behavioral problems. The findings suggest that failing the screening is associated with mild-to-moderate developmental delays, underscoring the need for timely audiologic follow-up and developmental monitoring.
