// This study investigated factors affecting how listeners perceive masculinity, naturalness, and gender in transmasculine and cisgender voices. Using voice recordings from transmasculine and cisgender speakers, 105 listeners rated masculinity, naturalness, and gender attribution, revealing that fundamental frequency strongly predicted these perceptions. Transmasculine voices were acoustically similar to cisgender male voices but were rated less masculine and natural, especially by older listeners, and were more frequently misgendered. The findings suggest listener age impacts perception and highlight the need for tailored gender-affirming voice therapy for transmasculine individuals.
